Secondary Special Education and Transition
As a mother of autistic children, I chose to pursue a master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Autism and a specialization in Secondary Special Education and Transition because I have witnessed firsthand the unique challenges and incredible potential that children with autism possess. My journey as a parent has shown me the importance of individualized support and the need for structured plans that empower autistic individuals to navigate their world successfully, particularly as they transition from childhood to adulthood.
Secondary Special Education and Transition became my focus because I believe the teen years and early adulthood are critical stages for establishing independence, developing life skills, and fostering self-determination. By specializing in this area, I aim to equip myself with the knowledge and strategies to not only advocate for my children but also to support other families and professionals in preparing autistic individuals for meaningful and fulfilling lives.
